We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Team as an Assistant Medical Secretary within the Haematology Department based at York Hospital. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join our busy team to provide secretarial support to the Haematology Consultants and the wider clinical teams.
Excellent administration/secretarial skills and audio-typing experience/qualifications are required. Together with demonstrable customer service skills and experience.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for typing clinical and administrative letters, answering telephone enquiries from patients, GPs and colleagues from within the Trust from various staffing groups.
The successful candidates will be required to have good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise the demands of a busy office and manage their time and workload effectively.

Essential criteria
9. GCSE English Language, Grade C or above (or equivalent)
10. Word processing skills – OCR II (or equivalent e.g. RSA II)
11. Typing skills OCR II (or equivalent e.g. RSA II)
Desirable criteria
12. Qualification or appropriate training in customer service
13. ECDL
Experience
Essential criteria
14. Minimum 6 months secretarial/administrative experience
15. Experience of using a variety of IT applications, including Microsoft Office
16. Experience of working in a customer focused environment

18. Proficient audio typist with the ability to accurately transcribe complex audio tapes and type complicated medical information whilst subject to frequent interruption
