Company Description

UK Industrial Fusion Solutions (UKIFS) Ltd, a subsidiary of the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), is at the forefront of developing fusion sustainable energy. Through the design and delivery of STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) programme, we aim to build a prototype fusion plant, targeting first operations around 2040.

UKIFS will lead delivery, collaborating with industrial partners and building a fusion supply chain with an estimated global sector value of £7tn per year.

Employees can be based at West Burton, Nottinghamshire, or Culham, Oxfordshire. This role is primarily based at West Burton, with occasional travel to Culham. Onsite work is expected for 3 days a week, with flexible working options supported.

The salary is £59,723 plus benefits including an outstanding pension.

Job Description

The UKIFS Communications team plays a vital role in shaping and influencing at all levels. We seek a Senior Site Stakeholder Engagement Manager to lead communications and engagement at West Burton.

You will develop strategies to enhance UKIFS and STEP’s reputation, build stakeholder relationships, and support site development, including engagement related to the Development Consent Order and planning processes.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead Site-Based Communications and Engagement:
o Develop and implement site-based communication plans targeting regional and local audiences.
o Monitor and communicate site engagement sentiment.
2. Enhance Programme Reputation:
o Represent the programme at regional events and identify new engagement opportunities.
o Act as a regional spokesperson as needed.
3. Local Supplier Engagement:
o Build the local supply chain through strategic engagement and events.
4. Public Consultation for Development Consent Order:
o Lead public consultation activities and produce supporting materials.
5. Manage Requests and Complaints:
o Establish systems for handling information requests and complaints efficiently.
o Develop stock responses to common inquiries.
6. Team Development:
o Mentor the Site Communications Officer and foster a collaborative environment.
7. Leadership Mindset:
o Demonstrate leadership, integrity, and professionalism, embodying the organisation's values.


Qualifications


Essential:

* Extensive experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, and community relations.
* Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
* Experience in complex, matrixed environments.
* Knowledge of government roles in projects like STEP.
* Proven stakeholder relationship skills.
* Ability to produce high-level proposals and papers.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strategic and innovative thinking.


Beneficial:

* CIPR qualification.
* Experience with infrastructure projects and Development Consent Orders.
