Senior Lawyer – Flood and Coastal Risk Management and Planning Team (Job ID 32054)
Apply to join the Environment Agency’s Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) and Planning legal team as a Senior Lawyer.
About the Role
Your responsibilities include advising the National Infrastructure Team on the development consent order process, handling complex planning, infrastructure and environmental law matters, and supporting the Agency’s legal work across planning and national infrastructure regimes. You will work autonomously, influencing projects and broader regulatory regimes from an environmental legal perspective.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice on planning, infrastructure planning, and environmental law to manage development consent orders and significant projects.
* Manage your own caseload independently, preparing and presenting legal arguments and reports.
* Engage with stakeholders, including government bodies, local authorities, and industry partners, to influence outcomes.
* Evaluate and apply statutory and regulatory requirements to protect the Agency and the environment.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified solicitor at the senior level with at least 3 years PQE.
* Strong track record in public, planning, and environmental law.
* Excellent analytical, communication and persuasion skills.
* Ability to influence and communicate complex legal matters to a range of audiences.
* Confidence in managing your own workload and delivering high quality work under tight deadlines.
