Overview
We are seeking a passionate and committed teacher to join our thriving department as a 0.8 Music Teacher, teaching classroom Music from Year 4 to Year 8 and playing a central role in the rich musical life of the school. The successful candidate will direct our Junior Choir (Years 3 and 4), preparing them for major events such as the Christmas Carol Service, Spring Serenade and Summer Arts Fest, as well as a variety of smaller performances. They will also contribute to the Senior and Chamber Choirs, support our busy programme of ensembles and concerts, and foster a love of music across the school.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and support our team of 17 peripatetic teachers, liaising with parents, and ensuring the smooth running of instrumental and vocal lessons.
* Contribute to the department with well-resourced facilities and opportunities (samba and djembe sets, keyboards, percussion, and Soundtrap).
* Lead and develop school music events, such as teatime recitals, chapel performances, assemblies, and termly showcases; coordinate ABRSM exam sessions and performance opportunities.
* Foster links with senior schools through collaborative workshops and concerts.
* Play an active role in the broader life of the school, including pastoral responsibilities and co-curricular activities.
Qualifications and requirements
* Experience teaching music to Key Stages 2-3 (Year 4-8) or equivalent; ability to direct choirs and ensembles.
* Ability to work with a team of peripatetic teachers and manage a busy timetable.
* Enthusiasm for developing pupils’ musical potential and contributing to a thriving music programme.
