An opportunity has arisen in our Home to School Transport Service! This position is temporary for 12 months. Durham County Council has developed a transformation programme for its Home to School Transport Service. This is critical to our ambition to support children and families to have independent, healthy, and fulfilling lives, whilst ensuring that our services are effective and financially sustainable. The role of Best Value and Efficiency Officer is an exciting new post which will provide opportunity and challenge. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, positive and proactive and will work as part of a small but vibrant and forward-thinking team. The role is challenging, varied and rewarding. The successful candidate will lead and support various activities which include: Working collaboratively to collect, analyse and benchmark data. Conducting commercial negotiation activity to support the council to achieve best value. Conducting transport route reviews and suggesting new more efficient ways of working. Candidates should have an NVQ Level 4 in a business, finance or commercial related discipline or significant recent experience in a business, finance or commercial role.
