Job Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to develop and deliver electrical designs across a variety of construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be experienced in designing electrical systems that are compliant, efficient, cost-effective, and tailored to client needs. Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed electrical design drawings and specifications for LV/HV systems, lighting, small power, containment, fire alarms, security systems, and emergency lighting. Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, fault level studies, and discrimination analyses. Work collaboratively with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams on coordinated designs. Ensure designs meet client requirements, statutory regulations, British Standards (e.g., BS7671), and relevant industry codes. Prepare technical submissions, design reports, and schedules for tender and construction phases. Use design software such as AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and electrical calculation tools. Conduct site surveys and attend design team/client meetings as required. Support procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning phases with technical input. Identify value engineering opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement. Stay updated on new technologies, legislation, and sustainable design practices. Key Skills & Experience: Proven experience in electrical design within the building services or construction industry. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and relevant UK regulations and standards. Ability to produce fully coordinated electrical designs and technical documentation. Familiarity with BIM and 3D modelling (Revit MEP preferred). Proficient in electrical design tools (e.g., Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD, Revit). Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong problem-solving and project management abilities. Qualifications : Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field. Chartered or working towards Chartered status (IET or similar) preferred. ECS/CSCS Card and familiarity with CDM Regulations are advantageous. Desirable Attributes: Experience with sustainable or low-carbon electrical design (e.g., PV systems, EV charging, energy storage). Experience in sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, data centres, or industrial facilities. Knowledge of international standards if working on global projects.
