Are you inspired by the ambition of young entrepreneurs aged 18–30? Do you want to play a pivotal role in helping them turn their business ideas into reality? The First Minister’s Start‑Up Challenge is seeking someone with your passion, drive and commitment to guide Scotland’s next generation of business leaders.

Delivered in partnership with Dechomai, a leading social enterprise specialising in entrepreneurial development, this accelerated programme supports young people as they develop, launch and grow their businesses. Through high‑impact training, hands‑on guidance and tailored support, you’ll help participants build strong business foundations and take confident steps toward self‑employment. At the end of the programme, one exceptional young entrepreneur will have the exciting opportunity to secure £30,000 to grow their business.

As an Enterprise Youth Development Lead, you’ll be the steady guiding force for a caseload of young people, taking your cohort through every stage of the programme. You’ll support them to shape their ideas, test their concepts, write business plans and work towards those vital business start targets that define the success of the programme. Your role is to inspire, challenge and champion them as they navigate the realities of entrepreneurship.

You’ll work closely with our delivery partners, who will lead engaging, fast‑paced workshops and provide specialist mentoring to young people. Your role will be to ensure each participant is fully supported before, during and after these sessions, helping them stay motivated, confident and on track throughout their entrepreneurial journey.

Delivery will be flexible and varied. Travel across Scotland will be an essential part of the role as you support programme delivery, wherever young people need you most.

Working within a national delivery model, you’ll collaborate with mentors, partners and industry experts, including our partners at Dechomai to create a rich, empowering experience for every young person. You’ll act as a facilitator, coach and trusted voice, while also managing the essential administration and data that underpin programme quality and impact.

If you’re detail‑oriented, energised by youth development and passionate about creating meaningful change, this role offers the chance to make a real difference. Inclusion sits at the heart of the programme, and we welcome someone who shares that commitment.

This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to transform futures and help shape Scotland’s entrepreneurial landscape.
