Senior Mechanical Project Manager
M&E Building Services – Southampton – £70,000-£80,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits
We are a respected M&E Building Services contractor delivering projects from £200k to £5m across the commercial, office fit‑out, healthcare, education, industrial, and leisure sectors. Known for high‑quality mechanical installations and a collaborative culture, we are looking to strengthen our project delivery team.
Projects are predominantly within commercial and office fit‑out environments, with selected healthcare and education works. Mechanical packages typically include HVAC systems, heating and cooling plant, ventilation, pipework, public health services, and plantroom installations.
Responsibilities
* Manage mechanical building services projects from pre‑construction through to handover.
* Oversee projects ranging from £200k to £5m, ensuring safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery.
* Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
* Maintain project programmes, progress, and commercial performance.
* Act as the key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships.
* Ensure all work complies with technical specifications and standards.
* Monitor project costs, variations, and overall commercial health.
* Collaborate closely with design and estimating teams throughout the project lifecycle.
* Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience as a Mechanical Project Manager, Senior Mechanical Project Manager, M&E Project Manager, or Mechanical Contracts Manager.
* Strong background in M&E or Mechanical Building Services contracting.
* Proven track record delivering mechanical projects up to £5m.
* Technical understanding of HVAC systems, plant, pipework, and associated services.
* Experience managing multiple stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
* Good commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs and variations.
* Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Consistent delivery across previous roles; stable employment history.
