Technical Programme Training Manager
The Cambridge Genomics Laboratory (CUH) is recruiting a Training Manager to ensure technically skilled staff support the Laboratory’s aims and develop their careers within the Laboratory.

Main duties of the role
* Develop a Technical training programme for new and current technical staff.
* Ensure training and competency records are accurate and meet IBMS and AHCS requirements.
* Support trainee Genetic Technologists to achieve the Practitioner Certificate of Competence.
* Create and maintain SOPs and policies to standardise training opportunities.
* Develop apprenticeship pathways in partnership with the CUH apprenticeship team.
* Maintain the laboratory’s training status with IBMS, AHCS and HCPC.
* Manage and record all training and competency within the technical laboratory environment.
* Provide continued professional development for registered and non-registered technical staff.
Qualifications
* Accredited Biomedical Science BSc (Hons) or equivalent.
* Membership of the IBMS or AHCS.
* Post-graduate qualification in education/teaching, human genomics or equivalent.
* Relevant management, quality or project qualification.
Experience
* Significant technical clinical laboratory experience.
* Team leadership experience.
* Experience developing and implementing training in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.
* Project management experience.
* Experience delivering IBMS or AHCS training or verification.
Knowledge
* Detailed knowledge of routes to HCPC accreditation for Technical Laboratory staff.
* Detailed knowledge of routes to AHCS accreditation for Genetic Technologists.
* Knowledge of apprenticeship programmes relevant to laboratory professional groups.
* Familiarity with ISO 15189:2022 training, competency and CPD requirements.
* Knowledge of CUH IT systems such as IQM, EPIC and MAPS.
* Understanding of human resource management and workforce development.
Skills
* Ability to develop and use IT platforms for training, including online/networked materials.
* Effective communication skills with staff and management at all levels.
* Independent working ability while collaborating with teams to meet external verification standards.
* Influence of external organisations.
* Motivation and enthusiasm under pressure.
* Development and maintenance of staff competency matrix.
