Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Sonographer looking for your next opportunity in a busy and friendly department? We are seeking experienced Sonographers committed to high-quality, effective patient care to join our Ultrasound team at Ipswich Hospital, covering ultrasound outreach at Felixstowe Hospital. This role involves general medical and gynaecology ultrasound work, with some rotation into obstetrics, covering both inpatients and outpatients. Opportunities exist to specialise in fields such as paediatrics, MSK, head and neck.
This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your clinical experience in a busy department that values staff development. You will work with a team of Imaging Assistants, trainee Sonographers, Sonographers, and Radiologists. You will participate in training students and registrars and support departmental development. Our department has strong educational links with Kings College London, University of Hertfordshire, and University of Suffolk.
Applicants should be registered with the HCPC or other UK recognised bodies (e.g., NMC) with a UK CASE Accredited Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) or Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Medical Ultrasound. NHS experience is beneficial. We offer flexible working, including weekends, to meet service needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake and report on a variety of ultrasound examinations, including gynaecology, abdominal, thyroid, lumps and bumps, and DVT ultrasound, on a rotational basis.
2. Provide a high-quality, efficient ultrasound service with unsupervised scanning sessions for the East Suffolk and North Essex populations.
3. Work as an independent practitioner within your scope, performing scans to a high diagnostic standard, prioritising workload, and formulating accurate reports communicated to clinicians and patients.
4. Collaborate with radiologists to determine patient pathways.
5. Offer specialist advice regarding the ultrasound service.
6. Contribute to training and supervising staff and students within the Ultrasound Unit.
7. Ensure safe use of ultrasound equipment, resolve first-line problems, record faults, and liaise with engineers.
