Role Overview
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Longdon Hall School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and take into account the requirements of governing and professional bodies. You will manage a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from your clinical supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required. Key Responsibilities
* Conduct Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions in an educational setting.
* Manage a caseload of pupils with complex communication needs.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and liaise with families, carers and other professionals.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation.
* Develop and formulate support plans based on needs profiles.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered.
* Relevant experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Multidisciplinary working experience in a range of settings.
* Experience communicating with families, carers and relatives.
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills across a range of SaLT practice.
* Strong relationship‑building, analytical and judgment skills.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Good time management and organisational skills.
* Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention techniques, and how to formulate support plans.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications.
* Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.
Desirable
* Understanding of other differences such as sensory and motor factors affecting communication.
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
Location and Salary
Burton‑upon‑Trent, Staffordshire. Up to £53,200 FTE DOE. Full Time.
