Closing date: 14th June 2026 Shortlisting to take place: 15th June 2026 Interviews to commence: W/C 22nd June 2026 Due to the retirement of our existing CNIO, Bradford Teaching Hospitals are looking for an experienced and inspiring registered nurse, midwife or AHP to join our Digital, Data and Technology team as Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO). This is an exciting leadership role for an individual who is passionate about improving patient care through digital innovation, clinical informatics and service transformation. The CNIO will provide professional clinical nursing leadership across the design, development and implementation of digital systems, ensuring they support safe, effective and high-quality care. Working closely with nursing, clinical and digital leaders, the postholder will champion the voice of nursing, midwifery and Allied Health Professionals in digital transformation, helping to embed technology that improves clinical practice, patient outcomes and staff experience. This role is ideal for a senior clinician with strong clinical credibility, leadership skills and a keen interest in informatics, innovation and change management. Main duties of the job

As CNIO, you will play a key role in shaping how digital systems support nursing and midwifery practice across the Trust. Working closely with clinical, operational and digital teams, you will help design, implement and improve digital solutions that make a real difference to patient care, staff experience and service quality. You will champion clinical informatics, support the successful adoption of electronic patient records and other digital tools, and ensure the voice of clinicians is at the heart of digital transformation. Registered Nurse (NMC), Midwife or AHP Registered with the UK Council for Health Informatics Professions (UK CHIP) at level 2 Qualifications

Registered Nurse, Midwife or AHP Educated to Degree level Additional specialist knowledge or training to master’s level or equivalent experience Evidence of ongoing and recent personal and professional development Evidence of training in clinical safety and risk management Recognised leadership qualification or training programmes / frameworks Project or Programme Management qualification, such as PRINCE II, Managing Successful Programmes Experience

Previous experience of working in the NHS or a similar large, complex environment Experience in supervising, leading and managing staff Extensive experience in clinical practice at a management or leadership level – with a track record of credibility Change management experience related to the planning and delivery of work in a clinical setting Financial and budget management experience Experience of influencing stakeholders Ability to cope with difficult interpersonal situations, competing demands and tight timescales Experience of working autonomously Demonstrates use of own judgement to resolve complex clinical issues. Proven track record of successful working with different staff groups to implement improvements in practice. Experience of successfully implementing clinical or service practice and organisational change Experience of management or significant contribution to complex, mission critical projects – clinical / IT / transformation Experience of delivering transformational leadership to effect change in teams Proven ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders within the organisation and in a multi-professional environment Skills

An in depth understanding of the statutory framework governing clinicians including emerging nursing revalidation Understanding (& experience) of how to improve clinical quality in acute patient settings A clear understanding of the national nursing and midwifery strategy, resultant work-streams and the standards to underpin and demonstrate best practice in nursing; understanding of national policy in relation to the national approaches to clinical quality, the Care Quality Commission activities and methodologies & the impact & expectation on front line services to deliver high quality safe care Proven ability to achieve targets and objectives within a pressured environment against challenging deadlines; A clear understanding of the national nursing and midwifery strategy, resultant work-streams and the standards to underpin and demonstrate best practice in nursing; Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality Organisation development: understanding of the requirements of an information culture and emerging technologies An understanding of the professional frameworks that support AHP roles Ability to interpret national and local policy drivers understanding the political environment; Knowledge of change management: experienced in managing change across teams/services in a multi-professional environment Knowledge of benefits management: able to identify and articulate benefits of information-enabled change Patient safety: Responsibility for clinical risk management of clinical informatics systems and services in accordance with NHS standards Employer certification / accreditation badges

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
