Summary
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, imaginative, and loves the outdoors, to join us as a Senior Visitor Experience Officer providing brilliant experiences for visitors across the Lake District.
We want you to help us develop our outdoor visitor sites, Wray, Tarn Hows and Aira Force, increasing access for our visitors through the development of new routes and waymarked paths, and promoting car-free travel across our land and between our sites. One day you might be working with our marketing team and access groups, developing itineraries and step-by-step walks for our website and social media, the next day working with our rangers on the development of step-free access at Aira Force. You will also need to understand what great presentation looks like, ensuring that waymarked routes are clearly marked, easy to navigate and smartly presented.
Your role will be based at Wray, with the chance to develop visitor experiences at different outdoor sites across the Lake District, but also between our sites; on trails, tracks and footpaths.
This role supports Welcome Managers and Site Managers in making sure everything runs smoothly in what can be complex and lively visitor business, with duty management a regular part of this role. You will be required to work some weekend days as part of a pre-arranged rota.

Hill Top House, part of the South Lakes property portfolio, was the start of Beatrix Potter's life as a farmer and conservationist in the Lake District. A truly international icon, it is open to the public and a very busy small property!
What you'll be doing
We don’t want our visitors to feel limited to the car park, café and toilets – we want them to explore as much of our land in the Lake District as possible. You’ll be linking up our visitor sites and extending path networks across National Trust land, making it easier for everyone to enjoy them.
You’re going to need to work well with others to get this done, including site operational teams, rangers and partners like the Lake District National Park and access groups.
Reporting to the Visitor Operations and Experience Manager, you will be based at Wray, near Ambleside (LA22 0JA), and will be required to support the team as duty manager as part of a pre-agreed rota. This won’t be every day, we will ensure you have plenty of time to be out and about developing the experience of our visitors in the outdoors
