Job Title: Support Worker
Job Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital, BD7 7DW, working at both Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals
Salary: £22,932 (£12.60 per hour) per annum, pro rata
Hours of Work: 28 hours per week (Monday to Friday 10am - 6pm; alternate weekends and Bank Holidays 9am - 5pm)
Contract Type: Permanent
Driving: Full UK Manual Driving Licence Required (held for a minimum of 2 years)

About the role
The hospital wards may refer a patient to us; we take patients home from hospital, assess their needs and offer support and guidance 24 hours when applicable. We help ensure a safe journey home, make sure the residence is liveable, and ensure the patient has what they need to reduce the risk of returning to hospital.
As a Support Worker, you will spend your days speaking with and supporting patients and medical staff so the hospital can run smoothly and assessments can be completed efficiently. Your work helps patients regain independence and supports people from diverse backgrounds.
Important: This role does not involve personal care (e.g., bathing, cleaning or administering medications).
Responsibilities
* Speaking with healthcare professionals about the support patients require
* Driving to locations including hospital, doctor surgeries, pharmacies, shops and patients' homes using BRC vehicles
* Offering emotional and practical support to people using our service
* Helping assess service users’ future needs and develop support plans; signposting to relevant agencies and community groups
* Ensuring our systems are updated to track the support offered to patients
Requirements / Qualifications
* A full UK manual driving licence
* The Right to Work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
* A caring, empathetic nature for support by phone or in person
* Basic IT knowledge; training will be provided on BRC systems
* Understanding of NHS services to offer the best advice and guidance
