Position
Trust doctor / Clinical Fellow (ST3-5 equivalent) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Fixed term 12‑month position. Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a license to practice by the intended start date. The role is at a level equivalent to an ST3+ trainee. Applicants must have completed Foundation competencies either as part of the UK Foundation Programme or demonstrate equivalent training.
Main duties
* Work at the SJUH and LGI sites, primarily on the labour ward, reviewing obstetric and gynaecology (including early pregnancy) emergencies and caring for antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology inpatients.
* Attend antenatal and gynaecology clinics and participate in elective gynaecology and obstetrics theatres.
* Be part of the second‑on‑call rota with an on‑call frequency of 1 in 10.
* Take part in departmental teaching and quality improvement work.
* Work under the supervision of a Clinical Supervisor to meet career and educational goals.
* Potentially contribute to the inpatient and outpatient services of the specialty.

Job responsibilities
Responsibilities include clinical duties appropriate to an ST3+ level and supporting clinical teams within obstetrics and gynaecology, including emergency care, inpatient management, and outpatient clinic work. The post holder will also support teaching and quality improvement initiatives.
Eligibility and fitness to practise
* Completed postgraduate training to at least an ST3 specialty level in obstetrics and gynaecology.
* Valid GMC registration at the time of application.
* Familiarity with the UK health system and NHS.
* Fit and fit to practise safely, aware of personal training needs.
* Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate for effective communication with patients and colleagues.
Professional competence
* Apply sound clinical knowledge and judgment to problems.
* Prioritise clinical need.
* Maximise safety and minimise risk.
* Initial management of acutely ill patients.
* Understanding of research, ethical issues, audit, risk management, evidence‑based practice, patient safety, and clinical quality improvement initiatives.
* At least 1 year experience at middle grade (ST3+) level in the UK.
* Competent in lower segment caesarean section and non‑rotational operative vaginal delivery.
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
* Completion of Foundation competencies or equivalent.
* Basic Adult Life Support training within the last 12 months.
* MRCOG Part 1 competencies equivalent to ST3 training.
