The Community Paediatric service identifies, assesses, diagnoses and manages the health needs of children and young people aged 0-18 years. The Neurodevelopmental Nurses form a valuable part of this team working in partnership with their Community Paediatric colleagues.
Role overview
You will support the assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions, predominantly Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role includes medication management of ADHD and sleep difficulties within neurodiversity.
Key responsibilities
* Work autonomously within a range of outpatient settings across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG).
* Support assessment and management of children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties in line with established pathways.
* Provide evidence‑based advice and treatment for ADHD following national guidelines, collaborating with children, young people and their families.
* Adopt an integrated approach with the child and family at the centre, working closely with other services.
* Teach, train and supervise other professionals or students.
* Work independently, managing own caseload while remaining accountable to the wider Community Paediatric team.
Qualifications and skills
* Strong knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders and evidence‑based management.
* Experience in medication management for ADHD and sleep difficulties.
* Excellent communication and training skills.
* Capacity to work autonomously and to manage a caseload independently.
* Commitment to an integrated, child‑centred approach.
