The Red Seal Certified Industrial Mechanic is required to perform skilled tasks in the service, repairing & maintaining hydraulic systems & equipment. They will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor hydraulic problems in both a marine & industrial environment, and a solid understanding of fluid power equipment is essential, this includes, but is not limited to, cylinders, marine steering systems, conveyor systems, cranes, winches, lifts, and forklifts. While work assignments may be provided through oral or written instructions, the successful candidate will be expected to assess the scope of repairs independently. Additional duties may be assigned as operational needs require.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Install, assemble, and maintain machinery and equipment according to specifications and blueprints.
* Conduct regular inspections and troubleshooting of equipment to identify potential issues.
* Perform repairs and replacements of defective parts, including bearings, motors, and belts.
* Align and calibrate machinery to ensure optimal performance and precision.
* Collaborate with other maintenance staff and operators to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
* Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.
* Assembling and installing machines then testing them to make sure they are working correctly
* Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations
* Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime
* Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts
* Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones
* Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts
* Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts
Required Skills
* Competent at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks. Mechanical aptitude in dealing with wrenches, hammers, forklifts, and other similar tools
* Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints
* Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues
* Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail
* Ability to be a team player due to constant interactions with similar employees, management and stakeholders such as Engineers, Plant Managers, and Part Vendors, amongst others.
Education and Training Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program in millwrighting/hydraulics or related field preferred.
* Trade and Red Seal Certifications such as the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) (IM), Amusement Operators Safety Certificate (EPA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Fluid Power Master Technician (FPMT), is required.
* Proven experience as a millwright/hydraulics technician or in a similar maintenance role.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
* Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime as needed.
Work Conditions
* 24/7 availability may be required.
* Physical ability to lift up to 50lb.
* Travel to off-site locations may be required.
* Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
* Overtime as required.

* Work both indoors and outdoors.
