Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Process Control Group
Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia. Employment type: Full-time, Fixed-term 24 months. Salary: Level A - $91,381 - $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation.
This position is based in the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will carry out scientific research on an ARC Discovery Project titled “A Probabilistic Approach to Big Data-Based Industrial Process Control” (DP250101137). The Postdoctoral Research Fellow is expected to undertake research on control theory and machine learning techniques for project DP250101137 and will work with the Process Control Group in the School of Chemical Engineering. The role reports to Professor Jie Bao and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
* Carry out scientific research on the ARC Discovery Project DP250101137, focusing on control theory and machine learning techniques for probabilistic, big-data-based industrial process control.
* Collaborate with the Process Control Group in the School of Chemical Engineering and contribute to project goals; report to Professor Jie Bao.
Qualifications
* PhD in Engineering or Mathematics.
* Demonstrated skills and experience with process control and modern control theories including nonlinear control and stochastic systems theory, ideally Behavioural Systems theory and applications.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
* Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
* Strong mathematical skills.
* Understanding of UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
