We’re looking for an experienced, passionate sonographer to lead our General Ultrasound service across UHD. As General Ultrasound Manager, you’ll combine advanced clinical practice with team leadership, quality assurance, service improvement, and help create a supportive learning environment for trainees, developing the next generation of sonographers.

UHD ultrasound services operate from our Royal Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne and Swanage hospitals, with community diagnostic centres at Health Sciences University and St Mary’s Poole.

Responsibilities
* Act as Lead Sonographer for General Ultrasound and be responsible for managing and upholding a safe and effective general ultrasound imaging service.
* Undertake clinical (approximately 20%) and managerial (approximately 80%) duties and deputise for the Ultrasound Service Manager when required.
* Provide regular feedback to the Ultrasound Service Manager on compliance with key performance indicators for the service.
* Supervise and provide specialist advice and expertise to the ultrasound team of Sonographers, Students, and support workers, in addition to the wider MDT.
* Ensure all aspects of clinical governance are delivered and monitored, including leading regular peer review audits and action plans; liaise with the Obstetric Ultrasound Manager, Clinical Lead Sonographer and the Ultrasound Service Manager to address learning needs such as inductions and clinical competencies of new staff.
* Actively develop the service in conjunction with national and local NHS guidelines and directives; ensure staff promote patient advocacy and communicate effectively with other health care professionals.
* Assist in maintaining integration of the ultrasound scanning service and be responsible for developing, and regularly reviewing, standardised departmental protocols; participate in research programmes.
