Job Description
The University of Glasgow School of Law seeks to appoint either a Senior Lecturer or a Lecturer (Grade 7 or 8) in Corporate and Financial Law (Research & Teaching Track).
The successful applicant will work within a vibrant community of corporate researchers and be part of the Corporate and Financial Law Research Group. The department has interests in capital markets, financial regulation, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, sustainable finance, insurance, and insolvency. There are immediate teaching needs in corporate governance, capital markets, and financial law, with opportunities to expand course offerings.
The School of Law is ranked 44th globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025. It is renowned for innovative research and excellent education, with a history dating back to 1451 and continuous teaching since 1714. The school has a diverse international student body and staff.
This role is available at Lecturer Grade 7 or 8, or Senior Lecturer Grade 9 level. Please specify the level on your cover letter.
Job Purpose (Senior Lectureship)
The post holder will contribute to the strategic direction of the School/College through high-quality research, teaching, securing research funding, and providing academic leadership. Engagement with external stakeholders to promote knowledge exchange and public understanding is expected.
Main Duties and Responsibilities (Senior Lectureship)
* Lead research projects of international standard and contribute to research strategy.
* Act as principal investigator or project leader on major research projects.
* Lead funding bids and knowledge exchange activities.
* Provide academic management and leadership within the School/College.
* Develop networks with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
* Implement learning technologies across courses and programmes.
* Develop inclusive and innovative teaching, learning, and assessment approaches.
* Participate in professional activities and disseminate research findings.
* Influence public understanding and policy through external relationships.
* Supervise student projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* Engage in professional development.
* Perform other duties as required by the Head of School.
Qualifications (Senior Lectureship)
Essential:
* PhD or equivalent in related discipline with extensive research reputation and teaching experience.
* Recognised expertise in Corporate and Financial Law.
* Experience in academic leadership and management.
* Engagement with current academic practice and strategies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Proven ability to lead research and manage resources.
* Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
* Experience in academic leadership and collaboration.
* Track record of original research and securing funding.
* Established research publications of international standard.
* Reputation in the subject area and teaching scholarship.
* Experience in developing teaching programmes and methods.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Terms and Conditions
Salary: Grade 7/8/9, £40,497 - £66,537 per annum. Full-time, fixed-term for up to 12 months (1 September 2025 - 31 August 2026). The University supports visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route if applicable.
