Start Date: As soon as possible

Are you a committed and highly skilled Level 5 Specialist Teacher who wants to make a meaningful impact on the educational outcomes of children and young people with additional needs? Join our Literacy and Numeracy Support Service, where you will work with pupils in a range of schools across Wandsworth, both primary and secondary.

The Literacy and Numeracy Support Service has a long history with Wandsworth and is now fully traded, with schools buying in our services. In addition, we provide central training for both literacy and numeracy and work with schools on a range of projects to support the development of inclusive practice and effective approaches. Currently, we have a resource base and meeting space at Swaffield School.

About The Role

You will work across a range of primary and secondary schools, supporting pupils who are on SEN Support or have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Many of these pupils will have co-occurring difficulties, and your role will be to help them access learning and improve attainment through tailored support.

Central to your role will be the provision of specialist teaching and advice to both school staff and parents, together with training to promote inclusive practices. In addition, you will complete needs-based assessments for literacy and numeracy, which will inform the development of your targeted interventions and provision planning. You will need to be reflective and flexible in your approach to ensure that the intervention is well matched to the identified needs.

You will join a team of eight specialist teachers, all with L7 (or higher) qualifications in SpLD. This includes the manager of the service. In addition to the in‑school direct teaching, central training and project work, you will also carry out one‑off assessments and access arrangements. The team meets every fortnight and your attendance at these staff meetings is essential to team cohesion and maintaining a consistent approach in the provision of our service.
