What's involved with this role: Interim Adult Social Care Lawyer Sheffield 0009 DE16 / 1 Pay Rate: Up to £45.70 per hour PAYE depending on experience Hybrid working Two positions available: 1 x 37 hours per week 1 x 18.5 hours per week Key Requirements: Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a valid practicing certificate. Experience in representing clients in court and tribunal hearings. Extensive experience in adult social care law, including safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, Court of Protection matters, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). Strong understanding of relevant legislation and case law relating to adult social care. Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of complex legal matters. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including local authorities, courts, and service users. Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with experience representing clients in legal proceedings. Key Responsibilities: Provide legal advice and representation to local authorities on adult social care matters, including safeguarding, mental capacity, and best interest decisions. Advise on complex care packages, assessments, and funding decisions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005. Represent the authority in court proceedings and hearings, including those related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), Court of Protection, and adult safeguarding cases. Draft and review legal documents, including care agreements, contracts, and legal notices, ensuring all documentation complies with current legislation. Work closely with social care teams and other departments to manage risk and ensure that decisions are made in the best interest of service users. Provide legal training and support to social care professionals, helping to ensure that the authority remains compliant with all statutory duties and obligations.
