Trainee Sheet Metal Worker CNC & Machine Operations Location: Harlow Type: Full-Time, Permanent Department: Manufacturing / Production Mon-Thurs 8am to 5pm, Fri 8am to 1pm (39 hours) Salary: £13.00 per hour starting rate (£26,364 per annum) Kickstart Your Career in Engineering! You’ll receive full training from experienced engineers and gain the skills to operate cutting-edge CNC and fabrication machinery. What You’ll Be Doing Phase 1 – CNC Machine Training * Learn to operate CNC machines such as laser cutters, brake presses, and punch machines * Read technical drawings and job sheets to produce accurate components * Carry out basic quality checks using measuring tools (verniers, callipers, tape measures) * Assist with machine setup and material preparation * Work safely and follow all health & safety procedures Phase 2 – Broader Fabrication Skills * Get hands-on experience with guillotines, folding machines, spot welders, and other workshop tools * Learn finishing processes like deburring, grinding, and polishing * Help with general workshop duties, material handling, and housekeeping What We’re Looking For Essential: * Enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills * Computer literacy, tech savvy * Good attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions * Team player with a positive, can-do attitude * Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious * Basic numeracy and measuring ability Desirable: * GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, or a technical subject * Any previous workshop or manufacturing experience (not essential) * A genuine interest in engineering or mechanical work Why Join Us? * Full on-the-job training from experienced professionals * Genuine career progression opportunities * A supportive, friendly, and safe working environment * Be part of a company that values people who want to learn and grow Ready to start your journey in engineering?
