The job holder will be responsible for managing an Approved Premises (AP) and ensuring the effective management of risk posed by resident offenders. The holder will manage the efficient operation of the AP, supervise staff to ensure compliance with the NPS strategy, create and maintain a safe environment and offer support to other teams during periods of absence. In line with NPS policies, the holder must demonstrate a commitment to equality and inclusion and understand their relevance to the work. The post holder must adhere to policies regarding sensitive and confidential information. The AP Manager will participate in an out‑of‑hours standby duty rota.
Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
* Provide effective management and leadership to the team.
* Be accountable for the quality delivery of good practice and team performance improvement within policy and national standards.
* Ensure that all team resources are deployed efficiently and effectively.
* Ensure that staff can meet the requirements of the NPS contract with HMPPS, CRC and local business plans.
* Access, interpret, analyse and apply performance data to improve function/team performance and deliver organisational aims.
* Proactively manage staff development, under‑performance, attendance, health and safety, employee relations and diversity matters.
* Ensure AP staff manage risk appropriately and meet public protection standards and targets.
* Contribute directly to public protection through multi‑agency arrangements, casework review, discussion and feedback.
* Ensure AP staff manage self‑harm, wellbeing and social care needs of residents and carry out First Aid as necessary.
* Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to service delivery.
* Manage financial resources as delegated by the AP Area Manager.
* Provide a leading role and direction in work with partners and key stakeholders, representing the NPS as appropriate.
* Facilitate effective communication between the AP management team and internal and external partners.
* Respond positively to concerns of neighbours and the local community.
* Undertake stand‑by duties and participate in the out‑of‑hours rota.
* Ensure effective functioning of contracts for staffing, facilities and estates as delegated by the AP Area Manager.
* Play an active part in the corporate management of the NPS as part of the AP Management Team.
* Carry out safeguarding duties for children and adults in accordance with statutory responsibilities and agency policies.
* Undertake specific areas of responsibility as delegated by the Area Manager and any other duties as appropriate.
* Demonstrate pro‑social modelling skills, reinforcing pro‑social behaviour and attitudes while challenging anti‑social behaviour.
* Work within the aims and values of NPS and HMPPS.

Hybrid Working
The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This informal, non‑contractual form of flexible working blends working from a base location, different MoJ sites and/or from home. For nationally advertised roles, the successful candidate will be appointed to a MoJ office location.

Qualifications
* Probation Qualification Framework, Graduate Diploma/Honours Degree in Community Justice integrated with Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice, or equivalent recognised qualification.
* Diploma in Probation Studies, Diploma in Social Work (with Probation Option), CQSW (with Probation Option) recognised by the Secretary of State for Justice.
