We are looking for a Specialist Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who is passionate about delivering timely, effective, person-centred therapy for people with hand conditions (trauma and acquired hand conditions as well as those having undergone elective procedures) to join our specialist outpatient team.

Previous experience of working within a hand therapy setting is desirable, but not essential. Candidates will have effective communication and decision-making skills with a positive approach to multi-disciplinary working in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be based at the University Hospital Monklands, Airdrie, within the Occupational Therapy department as well as being part of the integrated OT/PT Hand Therapy service, providing hand therapy to patients within the NHS Lanarkshire catchment area.

The successful candidate will have access to both formal and informal supervision, be part of an inservice training programme and be supported through an individual performance development and learning plan.

Airdrie is perfectly situated within easy reach of both Glasgow and Edinburgh and has excellent public transport connections to both cities and the surrounding area.

What we'll need you to bring

* Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC Registration
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
* Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
* Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology

Environmental/ working conditions:

* Direct exposure to unpleasant smells, body fluids, waste or hospital acquired infections.
* Direct exposure in the community setting to environmental hazards
* Risk of direct exposure to abusive and aggressive behaviour from patients, relatives and carers.
* Requirement to drive across Lanarkshire

Machinery & equipment

* Utilise a range of equipment and machinery in hospital and community environments which is specific to the clinical area and may vary depending on the needs of the service.

This includes:

* O.T. specialist equipment including technical equipment and standardised assessment tools.
* Manual handling equipment
* ADL & Mobility aids
* Digital and rehabilitation technology
* Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

Permanent

Part Time

14.8 hours

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.


Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Hand Therapy within University Hospital Monklands.
