This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.

In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department.


Compliance & Safeguarding

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding, and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e., the College). This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. Background to the Post

As one of the largest further and higher education colleges in the UK, with unique colleges across two counties, we aim to deliver learning experiences which lead to the development of wider skill bases and improved destinations for all of our students.


Main Duties

* Teaching – The person appointed will contribute to the teaching programme delivering the subject.
* Preparation and Assessment – Develop and produce teaching materials as required. Undertake assessment as required by the relevant scheme and keep accurate records. Support other lecturers in Plumbing to ensure they are producing relevant and appropriate teaching materials.
* Administration – Undertake administrative tasks relating to the programme(s) that they teach and College requirements, under the guidance of the Head of Department.
* Quality Systems – Undertake Internal Verification as required by the line manager. Participate in the lesson observation process; all lecturers will have an observed lesson each academic year. Carry out informal lesson observations to support new lecturers in Plumbing.
* Health and Safety – Ensure a safe working environment for colleagues, students and visitors in line with the HASAW Act and the College Health and Safety Policy.
* Safeguarding – Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and whom you come into contact with.
* Exam Invigilator Duties – May be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties during busy exam periods. Training will be provided.


Essential Attainments

* GCSE grade A-C or equivalent qualification in Maths and English.
* Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Plumbing & Heating or equivalent such as C&G Level 3 Advanced Craft Certificate in Plumbing & Heating.
* A Level 4 Teacher Training Qualification.
* Assessor and IQA Awards.
* Gas Safe Registered up to date.
* Willingness to undertake continuing professional development.
* Previous experience of teaching full‑time students at the relevant level and subject.
* Requirement for Lecturers to maintain their CPD and update industry specific skills on an annual basis.

* Evidence of excellent attention to detail.
* Friendly and helpful with an enthusiastic and flexible approach.
* Knowledge of current curriculum developments in the post 16 sector.
* Demonstrable experience of the ability to successfully meet deadlines.
* Understanding and knowledge of Equality and Diversity.
* Demonstration of behaviours which support the Core Values of the College.
* Understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
