Job Purpose / Overview
The emergency response advisor will support the Emergency Response Lead for HPC / Nuclear Development Emergency Response and act as an advisor to support operational Response and recovery for the Hinkley Point C construction site. This includes supporting the assurance of operational response arrangements, plans, and equipment.

Operating Environment
Hinkley Point C is a major infrastructure project requiring expertise and support from many contractor organizations to deliver the project safely, on schedule, and within budget. The position aims to ensure safety and hazard control across the site.
Framework & Boundaries
The Emergency response advisor reports to the emergency response lead and develops a collaborative working relationship with all stakeholders, ensuring emergency arrangements are appropriate and effective against current and future risks.
Principal Accountabilities
* Provide technical advice on fire and emergency response to all management levels.
* Advise on site-wide incident response and recovery arrangements.
* Support incident response capabilities onsite and assist in testing emergency arrangements.
* Manage inspections, checks, audits, and surveillance of rescue equipment and procedures.
* Represent the Principal Contractor in meetings and act as the technical rescue advisor in the field.
* Assist in developing rescue plans and ensure competencies of rescue-trained individuals.
* Maintain health and safety standards and develop local knowledge of risk profiles.
Dimensions
This role does not include line management or budget responsibilities but requires autonomous decision-making within policy guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Knowledge & Skills
* Interpret plans and emergency response requirements across build phases.
* Extensive fire, rescue, and emergency response experience.
* Ability to develop emergency response plans and communicate effectively.
* Experience with HAZMAT and environmental emergency response.
* Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of relevant regulations, rescue equipment, and techniques.
* Negotiating and influencing skills.
* Self-motivation and workload management.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Rescues from height and confined spaces.
* Firefighting, Rescue, Command (Lvl 1), MCA 3P.
Desirable
* Relevant business qualifications, tactical command, emergency planning, fire safety, MCA 5P, and advanced confined space qualifications.
