Job Overview
We are seeking a professional, vigilant, and SIA-licensed Security Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting our clients, employees, visitors, and assets by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This role requires excellent observational skills, strong communication (both verbal and written), the ability to respond effectively to incidents and emergencies, and a commitment to upholding legal, regulatory, and site-specific security protocols.
The Security Officer will play a key role in safeguarding premises through visible deterrence, proactive patrols, and effective incident management in line with SIA and company standards.
Responsibilities
* Monitor and control access/egress of employees, visitors, and contractors in accordance with site procedures.
* Carry out regular internal and external patrols to deter and detect unauthorised activities, theft, vandalism, or breaches of security.
* Operate security systems including CCTV, access control, and alarm monitoring equipment in line with SIA regulations and site requirements.
* Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or incidents, including fire, medical, or security-related events.
* Administer first aid (if trained/qualified) and coordinate with emergency services when required.
* Accurately record and report all incidents, hazards, and suspicious activity using company reporting systems and logbooks.
* Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, visitors, and colleagues at all times.
* Liaise with law enforcement agencies when necessary.
* Enforce company policies and site rules while ensuring safety and compliance at all times.
* Apply conflict management and de-escalation techniques in line with SIA training to manage challenging behaviour appropriately.
* Support loss prevention strategies by maintaining vigilance and reporting potential risks.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Must hold a valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding, Door Supervision, or Close Protection accepted).
* Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to reliable transport.
* Previous experience in the security industry is preferred but not essential.
* Good knowledge of security procedures, incident response, and loss prevention practices.
* First Aid at Work certificate (desirable).
* Strong observational skills with the ability to remain alert during long shifts.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear incident reports and maintain professional interactions.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, remaining calm under pressure.
* Professional appearance and conduct in line with SIA standards.
* Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Pay: £12.32-£13.73 per hour
