As a Structural Design Engineer will have the pride of seeing your designs on our product ranges, grow from a 3D concept through to installation and flight and you will play a part in the continued growth in our capability for the future. As part of our dynamic Structures Team you will be responsible for developing structural design solutions in collaboration with other engineering departments and key stakeholders, for our wide product range encompassing conventional helicopters, tilt rotors and unmanned air systems. Our design team supports both the UK and Italian geographies so although based in the UK there is the opportunity to work on our full product range. For internal applicants only, please note that this is a Job Family Framework level 4/5 (Engineering) What you'll do as a Structural Design Engineer: Be responsible for coordination, creation and delivery of varied and challenging design tasks, concurrently engineered with the collaboration of Design/Analysis/Certification & Qualification/Manufacturing Utilise your design skills to create, innovate and mentor whilst leading teams of Structural engineers in order to achieve delivery of fit for purpose design solutions What we need from you: A passion for engineering Enthusiasm to work as part of a team to deliver complex design solutions Experience using CATIA V5 or equivalent 3D design package The ability to own problems and provide pragmatic innovative solutions Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, machining and composite design Working at a more senior level, we would be looking for the following: Geometric tolerance control and design for manufacture Aerospace fasteners & types of structural joints Typical structural analysis failure criteria used to determine the static strength of structural components and an awareness of fatigue and damage tolerance in rotorcraft Knowledge of airworthiness regulations eg MAA, EASA or FAA ENOVIA VPM or equivalent part management system The ability to plan, capture/define requirements and execute tasks to achieve challenging timescales and budgets Security Clearance You must be eligible for full security clearance.
