Waking Nights Mental Health Support Worker (Children & Young People - Training Provided)
Location: Ninfield (Rural so drivers required) Residential Care | Full-Time | Shift Work
Are you looking to build a meaningful career supporting young people facing serious emotional and mental health challenges?
We're working with a leading therapeutic residential care provider just outside Hastings (in a rural location, so driving is essential) who is looking for motivated, compassionate individuals to join their team as Mental Health Support Workers.
You don't need years of experience-what matters most is your attitude, resilience, and genuine desire to make a difference. Full training and development support are provided, and you'll work alongside experienced professionals every step of the way.
About The Role
In this role, you'll support children and young people aged 11-18 who have experienced trauma and present with complex emotional and behavioural needs. Some of the challenges you'll help them navigate may include:
* Self-harm, including ligature risks
* Suicidal thoughts and attempts
* CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) vulnerabilities
* Sexualised behaviour
* Drug and alcohol misuse, including risk of overdose
* Physical outbursts or aggression related to trauma
You'll receive full training in how to support these behaviours safely and therapeutically. Your responsibilities will include:
* Being a stable, supportive adult role model for the young people
* Helping them with daily routines like meals, school prep, and personal care
* Encouraging participation in education, therapy, and hobbies
* Keeping accurate records and following safeguarding procedures
* Helping young people build emotional regulation, confidence, and independence
What We're Looking For
* Some experience with young people (this could be in youth work, care, education, or personal lived experience)
* A calm, consistent approach and a passion for helping others
* Willingness to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
* A full UK driving licence (required due to the rural location)
* A commitment to learn and grow - you'll be supported to achieve your Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Care
What You'll Receive
* "1 Day On / 2 Days Off" rota for healthy work-life balance
* Salary that's above the market average for junior care roles
* Private health insurance and 24/7 GP access
* Monthly gym membership allowance
* 36 days of face-to-face training per year
* Fully funded qualifications - including your Level 3 and later Level 5 Diplomas
* Pension plan and access to a performance-based bonus scheme
* A clear, supported path to promotion - this team invests in people
Important Information
This provider follows Safer Recruitment procedures. You'll need to complete an Enhanced DBS check, provide references, and share ID and proof of address as part of your application. Full support is provided throughout this process.
