Kingston College has an exciting opportunity for a Student Services Adviser to provide high quality support, information, advice and guidance to learners to improve their likelihood of successful completion of their programme and progression into further education, training and/or employment.
We are looking for a passionate and committed individual with fantastic engagement skills to join our team. You’ll work in close liaison with students, staff, and external organisations to safeguard students and support them in achieving their full potential by offering holistic support, which is tailored to their needs. You’ll also provide and support the provision of a range of activities to engage learners within the wider community of college life and the preparation for life in society.
Responsibilities
* Provide high quality support, information, advice and guidance to learners to improve progression and completion.
* Engage with students, staff and external organisations to safeguard students and support them in achieving their full potential by offering holistic, tailored support.
* Provide and support activities to engage learners within the wider college community and in preparation for life in society.
* Deliver student workshops or tutorials to a diverse range of students; adapt to needs of learners transitioning from pre- to post-16 education or returning after a break.
* Safeguarding: work with safeguarding legislation and practices in education; maintain good IT skills to market and record service provision using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, intranet/website, social media, Pro-monitor/EBS; undertake further training in College software as needed.
* Travel to or work from other South Thames Colleges Group sites as required.
Qualifications
* Level 3 or above IAG qualification, or a relevant area (e.g., youth and community, education, social work, sociology, health and social care) or willingness to work towards.
* Proven experience working with vulnerable young people, using strategies to re-engage learners or prevent disengagement/dropout.
* Experience delivering student workshops or tutorials to a diverse range of students; understanding of Post-16 education services and transition issues.
* Experience in a safeguarding capacity with young people; knowledge of safeguarding legislation and practices in education; good IT skills to market and record service provision using common software and college systems; willingness to undertake further training.
