Pre-Assessment Sister/Charge Nurse
One Ashford Hospital is seeking a Pre-Assessment Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Outpatients/Pre-Assessment team on a full-time basis.
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive professional to lead the pre-assessment patient pathway, ensuring patient safety and minimising same-day surgical cancellations.
Reporting to the Outpatient Manager, the successful pre-assessment sister/charge nurse will actively support the outpatients manager and retain responsibility for the safe running of the pre-assessment service. Will adopt a proactive approach to the development and optimisation of the pre-assessment service, will review and develop policies and SOPs to ensure up to date practice, with diagnostic testing, developing referral pathways, and delivering the highest standard of individualised patient care.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure compliance with hospital policies, national guidelines, and best practice standards, contributing to a safe, efficient, and patient-focused hospital experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Proactively support the outpatients manager and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Retain responsibility for the safe running of the pre-assessment service.
* Support and mentor other members of the pre-assessment team with learning and development.
* Work as an autonomous practitioner with specialist skills, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care within protocols, undertaking risk assessments for patients anaesthetically and surgically in conjunction with Consultants.
* Carrying a caseload and organise own workload and to act as the named nurse to all patients within the pre-assessment service.
* Identify cultural requirements, communication and other special needs and obtain further specialist advice as required
* Drive integration and collaboration between Outpatients and other hospital services.
Hours: Mon to Fri, shifts between 07:30 and 20:30. Occasional requirement to work Saturdays.

What we are looking for:
* NMC registration with full PIN and up-to-date revalidation.
* Proven experience in a pre-assessment clinical setting.
* Strong communication and organisational abilities with a calm, compassionate approach.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Proven ability to work independently and within a team.
* A thorough understanding of safeguarding principles and policies, with the ability to act appropriately to protect vulnerable individuals.
Skills
* Demonstrable knowledge and skills and competency of required clinical practice.
* Undertake MRSA screening, phlebotomy, ECGs and patient vital signs.
* Comprehensive written, numerical and verbal communication skills
* Experience in computer skills using MS Office Suite and web based reporting systems
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
* Experience in the private sector
