Morson Edge is supporting a leading UK infrastructure and construction business in the search for a Construction Counsel to join its in-house legal team. This is a high-impact role providing specialist construction law support across complex projects and contracts. The role offers flexible working with the requirement to travel to the Birmingham office one day per week. The Role You will be responsible for delivering strategic legal advice on a wide range of construction and infrastructure matters, with a particular focus on contract risk, dispute resolution, and project support. Key responsibilities include: Advising on NEC-based supply and construction contracts Leading construction contract disputes and adjudications Reviewing and negotiating NEC, JCT, FIDIC and related contracts Supporting project structuring (JVs, alliances, subcontracting) Partnering with commercial teams and Quantity Surveyors Providing risk assessment and governance across regional projects Supporting capex programmes and contractual risk management Delivering training and guidance to the wider business About You You will be a commercially minded legal professional with strong experience in construction law, capable of balancing legal risk with practical business outcomes. You will demonstrate: Strong experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious construction matters Expertise in NEC and JCT contracts (FIDIC experience beneficial) Proven track record managing disputes, including adjudications and claims Ability to influence senior stakeholders and work cross-functionally Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal issues A collaborative and pragmatic approach in a fast-paced environment Experience & Qualifications Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (England & Wales) Strong experience supporting construction or infrastructure projects Background in contract drafting, negotiation and risk mitigation Experience managing external legal counsel
