Social Worker – Court and Locality Service Manchester City Council | Locum | £37–£39 per hour Full-Time | Predominantly Office-Based with Flexible Home Working Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Court and Locality Service. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive, well-established team where you’ll play a key role in progressing permanence plans and achieving better outcomes for children involved in court proceedings. About the Role: You’ll be responsible for children and families subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings. You’ll need to be confident in assessment, planning, and court work, with a strong focus on forming effective relationships with children and their families. Key responsibilities: Manage a caseload of CIN, CP, and court-involved cases Complete high-quality assessments, care plans, and safety plans Contribute to pre-proceedings work and represent the local authority in court Build and sustain relationships with children and families to support change Work within a team of Social Workers and Advanced Practitioners Engage in regular supervision and multi-agency partnership work Practice Model: Manchester uses a relationship-based approach to social work, supported by strong management oversight, team cohesion, and a focus on reflective practice. The emphasis is on effective early intervention, timely decision-making, and putting children’s welfare at the centre of planning.
