Sports Coach – SEND & SEMH

The Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Sports Coach to lead engaging physical education and sports sessions tailored to students’ individual abilities and needs. You’ll foster a safe and supportive environment where students can grow both physically and emotionally, using sport as a tool for inclusion, self-esteem, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver fun, inclusive sports sessions designed for students with SEND and SEMH needs.
* Adapt activities so all students can participate, regardless of physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges.
* Promote teamwork, self-confidence, and emotional well-being through sport.
* Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and support teams to align sessions with students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
* Monitor progress, provide feedback, and celebrate student achievements.
* Support emotional regulation and social development through structured activities.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering guidance and encouragement.
* Ensure all activities are safe and comply with health and safety standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
* Relevant sports coaching qualification or a degree in Physical Education/Sports Science.
* Additional SEND or SEMH-related training is highly desirable.
Experience:
* Experience coaching or teaching children with SEND and/or SEMH needs is preferred.
Skills & Attributes:
* Adaptable coaching techniques to meet diverse student needs.
* Excellent communication, patience, and empathy.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and commitment to student safety.
* Creativity and enthusiasm to engage students in sport.
* Positive, flexible, and resilient attitude with a hands-on approach.
* Commitment to promoting inclusion and well-being through sport.
