Contract Mechanical CAD EngineerPoole, DorsetDay rate equivalent to £48,000£54,000 + pensionContract 6months rolling | Daytime Monday to Friday | Early finish on FridaysJoin a growing and friendly engineering manufacturing business as a Mechanical CAD Engineer, where youll take a senior role in a small, collaborative team. This is a hands-on position with added responsibility for overseeing junior engineers and interpreting mechanical draughting requirements from both internal colleagues and external customers.This is an onsite office based role, with very little WFH due to the nature of the product.As a Mechanical CAD Engineer, youll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and clarity of CAD drawings, mentoring junior team members, and acting as a key point of contact for translating customer requirements into manufacturable designs. Youll work on a variety of low-volume, high-quality mechanical products including CNC machined components, sheet metal fabrications, and mechanical assemblies.Whats on offer:Day rate equal to £48,000£54,000 salary depending on experienceCompany pension schemeDaytime hours Monday to Friday with an early finish on FridaysSupportive and experienced leadership teamA stable and growing company with a strong order book across UK and international marketsKey Responsibilities:Lead and support the CAD function as a Mechanical CAD EngineerInterpret and translate customer and colleague requirements into detailed CAD drawingsOversee and mentor junior CAD engineers, ensuring quality and consistencyParticipate in weekly project review meetings and contribute to continuous improvementMaintain and update CAD models and drawings for a range of mechanical productsIdeal Background:Proven experience as a Mechanical CAD Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, or similarStrong 3D CAD skills (Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or similar)HND, HNC, BTEC Level 4, or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldA collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solvingComfortable working in a low-volume, high-variety engineering environmentThis is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical CAD Engineer looking to step into a more senior, influential role within a close-knit and capable team.
