An opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Officer within the Procurement Department of NHS Dumfries and Galloway Health Board.
The role will be primarily office based at Mountainhall Treatment Centre, Dumfries. From 1st April this post will be 36 hours per week over 5 days (not including lunch breaks).
This role is responsible for supporting the procurement and supply of goods and services to NHS Dumfries and Galloway meeting the fundamental principles of procurement, the right quality, right quantity, the right price, to the right place at the right time.
You will be a central point of contact to provide advice and support for procurement activities within the board and ensure orders are compliant with relevant regulations and legislation.
This vacancy is being broadened out to consider the recruitment of a Trainee into the role should a suitable individual apply. The role will be a Band 3 until such times as the successful applicant is qualified to a minimum of SVQ Level 3 in a Procurement qualification thereafter it will be a Band 4.
The post holder requires to be organised, adaptable, a team player and a good communicator.
They will also be required to understand NHS D&G Procurement and Finance processes including operating within defined limits as determined by the Standing Financial Instructions.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
