Temporary Works Coordinator
6-month rolling contract
Based in Huddersfield
£400 - £450 per day (Umbrella PAYE)
VGC are currently recruiting experienced Temporary Works professionals to join the Temporary Works team, delivering works on one of the UK's largest rail infrastructure projects based in the Huddersfield area.
This is a long-term opportunity offered on a 6-month rolling contract, providing stability and exposure to a complex, high-profile project environment.
Role Overview:
You will play a key role in the planning, coordination, implementation, and control of Temporary Works across multiple work packages. Working closely with site teams, designers, and senior management, you will ensure all temporary works are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with programme requirements.
Responsibilities:
Process and manage Temporary Works design briefs, ensuring all relevant technical and site information is provided to Designers
Coordinate with Designers to ensure designs are fit for purpose, buildable, and delivered to programme
Check and monitor the implementation, inspection, and maintenance of temporary works on site
Ensure full compliance with BS 5975 and project-specific Temporary Works procedures
Maintain accurate and auditable Temporary Works documentation within site management systems
Register, track, and control drawings, calculations, design checks, and approvals
Attend and contribute to site meetings to determine the most suitable construction methodology and temporary works solutions
Manage permits to load and ensure full Temporary Works control throughout the lifecycle
Oversee the safe demobilisation and dismantling of temporary works
Evaluate, appoint, and manage Temporary Works Supervisors (TWS)
Attend and contribute to Temporary Works design review meetings, tracking progress and resolving issues
Ensure site teams receive full design details, with significant risks and design limitations clearly communicated
Attend regular Temporary Works Coordinator meetings and provide support across other work areas as required
Requirements:
Previous experience working with or for Tier 1 contractors
Proven background in Temporary Works roles (TWC / TWE / similar)
Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering background
Experience within the rail sector is preferred
Strong technical knowledge with the ability to liaise confidently with designers and construction teams
CSCS card (essential)
Civil or Structural Engineering qualification (preferred)
CRE-C status would be beneficial and may suit candidates stepping into or operating at Lead TWC level
