We are searching for an experienced Home Underwriter with more than 5 years’ experience to form a key part of Chubb’s Consumer Lines team. The successful candidate will have responsibility for growth and managing of the Residential Portfolio with our key partners in EMEA.
In this role the key activities will be to underwrite new residential opportunities within EMEA by supporting pricing, product development and underwriting footprint as well as support existing business with portfolio management and supporting account management.
This role will require attention to market conditions and how the residential market is developing with focus on competitor products and pricing, whilst maintaining good awareness of compliance and governance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Underwrite new business or renewals to defined guidelines set by your underwriting authority.
2. Portfolio management by formulating an underwriting strategy with the residential management team to grow the business and achieve underwriting profitability with pricing adequacy and robust terms and conditions.
3. Analyse industry trends, market data & regulatory changes to anticipate shifts in risk profiles and underwriting requirements informing proactive risk management and product development.
4. Prioritise and develop products within area of specialist expertise in order to improve partner retention and new business. This may involve collaborating with peers within and across business lines in Europe as well as globally.
5. Work closely with Actuarial, Data Science, Account Management and the Consumer Lines team to manage the product and use various analytical tools and software to review and interpret large datasets, identifying patterns, trends and potential risk factors.
6. Support the Consumer Lines Underwriting team through peer reviews, coaching and mentoring.
7. Represent and promote Chubb and maintain a permanent contact with internal colleagues as well as major partners.
8. Embrace challenges and uncertainty, willingly taking on complex underwriting scenarios and pushing beyond comfort zones.
9. Compliance & Regulation: You will ensure product integrity and compliance with all internal and external regulatory principles and guidelines, specifically including all aspects of FCA and Treating Customers Fairly. Ensuring contracts and agreements are signed, up to date, relevant and operative
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
10. Must have solid underwriting experience of Residential/Home insurance with good knowledge of Personal Lines market and competitors. Preferably over 5 years’ experience in the market.
11. Strong analytical skills, working with and analysing numerical/statistical data.
12. Collaborates well with colleagues from own team and other teams.
13. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
14. Excellent attention to detail and organisational/management skills.
15. Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word capabilities is essential.
16. Results driven with ability to make own decisions and work on own initiatives.
17. ACII preferred though not essential.
