The Opportunity
You will take full ownership of turnaround and shutdown projects from pre-site survey through execution and close-out.
Projects typically involve 2–4 weeks international travel (occasionally up to 6 weeks) across EMEA. When not on site, you’ll be based in Stamford supporting planning, reporting and bid development.
Key Responsibilities
Turnaround Planning & Pre-Execution
• Conduct detailed plant surveys and equipment inspections
• Define scope, risk areas and maintenance requirements
• Develop shutdown schedules aligned with client production windows
• Prepare RAMS, manpower plans, inspection sheets and mobilisation strategies
• Define tooling, spares and consumables in advance of site deployment
• Contribute to technical bid development and commercial scope alignment
On-Site Project Leadership
• Act as Project Lead during plant shutdowns
• Own safety, technical delivery, quality and schedule adherence
• Lead site teams and subcontractors in high-pressure environments
• Deliver hands-on mechanical/electrical support where required
• Oversee inspection, refurbishment and recommissioning of:
* Flares
* Burners
* Thermal Oxidisers
* Combustion & BMS systems
* • Chair daily client progress meetings
* • Maintain accurate inspection and quality documentation
* • Resolve technical issues to minimise downtime
Commercial & Strategic Support
• Identify upgrade and service opportunities on-site
• Support sales from enquiry to completion
• Coordinate expedited parts supply during live projects
• Contribute to the growth of the Turnaround Services division
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience:
• Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Controls Engineering background
• Proven field service / maintenance / practical engineering experience
• Experience leading or supporting plant shutdowns / turnarounds
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Confident communicator from shop floor to senior stakeholders
• Full UK driving licence & valid passport
• Flexibility for extensive international travel
Desirable:
• Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Power / Process industry background
• Combustion equipment experience (flares, burners, incinerators, BMS)
• Engineering qualification (Level 3+)
• Strong commercial awareness
