Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to lead our customer offering to redesign and replace Generator and Power System control panels. This role involves working with Deep Sea Electronics, ComAp and DEIF controllers, ensuring seamless integration and optimal functionality. The ideal candidate will have; a strong technical background in generator power systems, with expertise in synchronising generators with mains power using G99 controls and protection devices, design and project management skills, and a commercial focus to ensure we have a strong financial performance and great customer experience. The role could include the
specifying, build and installation of bespoke switchgear and energy management controls.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Redesign and replace generator control panels, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
* Commission and maintain generator power systems, leveraging over 10 years of experience.
* Work with Deep Sea Electronics, ComAp, and DEIF controllers, ensuring robust integration.
* Implement G99controls and protection devices for synchronising generators with mains power.
* Ensure compliance with relevant safety rules for LV electrical work.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting for new installations.
* Collaborate with clients and stakeholders, delivering high-quality customer-facing interactions.
Person Specification
Criteria - Education, Qualifications & Experience
* Proficient level of general education – NVQ Level3 minimum
* Previous experience in similar generator services companies or within the power generation industry
* Hands on experience with market leading control panel model/types
* Valid CSCS/ECS card
* Ability to manage own workload and establish priorities.
* Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 – Ensures competency in working safely with electrical systems.
* Knowledge of Health &Safety at Work Act 1974 – Covers workplace safety standards.
* Provision &Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 – Ensures safe handling of electrical equipment.
* Experience of working effectively as part of a team as well as independently
* Ability to solve problems with a positive attitude.
* Self-motivated and able to learn quickly.
* Strong attention to detail with elevated levels of accuracy
* Willingness to undertake further training as required for professional development.
