We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to contribute to the development of effective performance management of Cardiff’s Youth Justice Service by improving and maintaining management information systems (ChildView Youth Justice).
About the job
As a Data Analyst for the Youth Justice Service you will be in a position to ensure that information regarding the performance of services is provided to the Youth Justice Service management team, to strategic and operational managers at all levels and to stakeholder organisations with the goal of improving and supporting the quality of our service. The Cardiff Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a multi-agency partnership at the forefront of developing innovative interventions for children and young people aged 10-17 who have offended or are at risk of Justice.
Key responsibilities as Data Analyst will include:
* Providing information and reports as required by the Welsh Government, Youth Justice Board, Ministry of Justice, Police & Crime Commissioner, the YJS Management Board, Management team and by stakeholder organisations
* Responding to all relevant Freedom Of Information and Subject Access Requests within legislative timescales
* Providing training and advice to staff in the use of the case management system and information/data issues as they arise
* Liaising with IT/system providers with regards to any issues affecting data reporting
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for a person who has:
* A sound working knowledge of using software within a MS Windows or similar environment
* Experience of analysing, evaluating and responding to management information within a customer service context
* Experience of using database and spreadsheet applications
* An understanding of the criminal justice system as it affects children and young people, and an enhanced understanding of the Results Based Accountability (RBA) methodology would be a distinct advantage.
You will need to have the ability, skills and knowledge of:
* Reporting tools such as Power BI or SQL.
* Ability to work with complex information and produce analytical reports verbally and in writing
* Ability to use Excel to an advanced level
* Proven track record of enabling others to achieve their goals
* An understanding of performance management principles and business systems
