A welcoming and forward‑thinking school in Milton Keynes is seeking an Autism Support Assistant to join their team, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in pupils’ lives.
You will be part of a supportive staff team committed to ensuring all children can access the curriculum, develop independence, and build key communication and social skills.
The Role
As an Autism Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to provide tailored support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Your role will involve helping to create structured routines, supporting emotional regulation, and promoting positive behaviour for learning.
Forming strong, trusting relationships with pupils is essential, ensuring each child feels supported, encouraged, and understood throughout their school day.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with autism
Support pupils in meeting EHCP and IEP targets
Promote communication, social interaction, and emotional development
Adapt learning materials and activities to suit individual needs
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SEN team to monitor and record progress
About You
Experience working with children with autism or SEN (advantageous but not essential)
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
Proactive, flexible, and able to adapt to a busy school environment
Committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing
