Senior Librarian (Acquisitions & Systems)
Join Arden University as a Senior Librarian (Acquisitions & Systems). This is a fixed‑term contract for 12 months covering maternity leave, with an annual salary of £46,000‑£48,000. The role reports to the Deputy Head of Library Services – Acquisitions and Systems within the Library and Learning Success Hub. Hours are 37 per week, and the position can be based at one of Arden’s campuses (Birmingham, Leeds, London, Manchester, Nottingham) or a remote location with occasional campus travel.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced, motivated Senior Librarian to lead and support a team of library staff, delivering high‑quality digital and academic library services. The key responsibilities include:
* Co‑ordinating acquisitions, content management, and supplier liaison.
* Managing programme maintenance, financial administration and workflow documentation.
* Leading library systems implementation, discovery tools and reading‑list platforms.
* Analyzing service engagement data to inform planning, reporting and service improvement projects.
* Fostering a collaborative, high‑performing culture aligned with the university community’s needs.
About You
You bring strong organisational, leadership and communication skills, and a proven track record in library operations, systems and acquisitions. You should have:
* High level of IT literacy – Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
* Experience in a library team in higher education or private practice.
* Knowledge of library systems, discovery tools, reading‑list platforms or procurement tools.
* Understanding of bibliographic data, cataloguing and classification standards.
* Experience with acquisitions, supplier liaison and financial administration.
* Knowledge of electronic resources management and licensing in higher education.
* Familiarity with copyright and licensing in higher education.
* Project management experience with internal and external stakeholders.
