We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated integrated midwife (rural) based in Oban, Argyll region. The successful candidate will work autonomously within a supportive team, providing continuity of care to families in Oban, Lorn & Islands. You will be expected to travel to other maternity units within Argyll & Bute to cover when necessary and may cover homebirths within the Health Care Partnership. The role includes being the named midwife for a caseload, providing a full range of care and an on‑call commitment overnight for out‑of‑hours care. Efficient travel between work locations is required to meet operational requirements.
A full UK driving licence is essential. You will use your own car to commute, and a pool car will be provided for community visits and the overnight on‑call service. Part‑time hours are considered and a relocation package may be offered.
Oban Maternity Service is proactive in supporting local birth, whether at home or within the stand‑alone community maternity unit. All mothers and babies will be offered a family‑centred, safe and compassionate approach to their care, recognising their own unique circumstances (Best Start).
