Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Success & Retention, the Associate Director of the Center for Identity and Inclusion will foster campus-wide awareness and competence regarding cultural inclusion and equity. The Associate Director contributes to the creation of a welcoming campus environment by providing programming and engagement opportunities that not only honors students’ multiple identities but also builds working coalitions of alliances with diverse student, staff, and faculty stakeholders that support retention and persistence.
Essential Functions
* Supervises, evaluates, and develops unit’s staff including LGBTQ+ Resource Center, Black Student Services, Latinx Student Services, Native American Student Services and Asian Pacific Islander/ DESI Student Services.
* Supports in developing long-range strategic vision for diverse students’ success (identity development, intersectionality and student development/retention strategies) using student, institutional, and national data to plan and evaluate programming and student interventions.
* Responsible for intentionally building retention and success program in CII through mentoring students, implementing proactive case management, and actively using Ellucian advise and other CRMs to monitor student engagement and develop student action plans. Partners with academic affairs and student services to appropriately support students and ensuring workshops and events complement students’ curricular endeavors that support university retention.
* Develops and oversees day-to-day operation and operating budget supporting strategic goals, monitoring contracts and budget expenditures; exercises budget authority for all CII areas.
* Implements intentional engagement opportunities, outreach, individual and small group support, and programming to empower marginalized voices and increase awareness and education of systemically and historically oppressed communities including and not limited to cultural celebrations/months.
* Advocate for all students and specifically for historically marginalized communities in collaboration with coalition building for intersectional identity development and ally promotion for all Pacific students and the Pacific community.
* Works collaboratively with campus partners to devise, execute, and evaluate retention-based goals, policies, organization, and programs to appropriately support historically marginalized students’ success at Pacific.
* Integrates university faculty and staff into the work of the Center for Identity and Inclusion by developing on-going relationships across university schools and colleges.
* Collaborates with Student Life and University partners on events including but not limited to: Move-in, Week of Welcome, Homecoming, Pacific Summer High School Institute, and Admissions Prospective and Confirmed Student Events.
* Builds partnership and community with University Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to build programmatic initiatives, support Bias response, and provide transformative trainings to support university goals.
* Co-leads University Bias Response Team and provides intentional support to train and lead Pacific community in equity-minded leadership.
* Assists university in efforts to sustain and expand services as a designated Hispanic Serving Institution and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution.
* Responsible for supporting the selection and training of student staff and mentoring and advising of student organizations including Fraternities and Sororities and other cultural and identity-based organizations.
* Guides and directs staff to deliver comprehensive and equity-centered Pacific student experience for both residential and commuter students.
* Oversees design, implementation, evaluation and assessment of student staff and volunteer selection processes to ensure qualified and diverse hiring practices.
* Plans and allocates financial resources of the department and ensures department conformity to institutional business rules, procedures and departmental internal controls.
* Oversees and influences McCaffrey Center space and partners with university partners to build community in conjunction with Student Life areas like the First-Generation hub. Reports concerns and optimizes space utilization and building upkeep.
* Represents the department on university committees and on special projects as appointed by the Executive Director of Student Success and Retention.
This position serves as Campus Security Authority ( CSA ) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them.

Minimum Qualifications
* Master’s degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience (two (2) years of full-time experience in the same or similar position is equal to one (1) year of completed post-high school education).
* Five (5) years of experience in student affairs programming, counseling, or a related field.
* Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Education in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Intercultural Education, or related area.
* Three (3) years of professional experience in student life in higher education with demonstrated expertise and leadership in intercultural student success, at the campus, community, and professional organizations’ levels.
* Demonstrated sensitivity to issues of student development, diversity, and special population needs through programming, student advising and mentoring, and training.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is performed in a standard office environment with frequent use of the phone, computer, and other communication devices. Work performed during standard business hours. Position will require some evening, weekend, and on-call commitments.
Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range
Hiring Range $68,640 – 86,273.00 (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.)
