The Birmingham Dental Hospital is hiring a Band 2 Clinical Support Worker to join a multidisciplinary team supporting the decontamination and sterilization of dental equipment. Key Responsibilities
* Manage and distribute sterile and non-sterile dental instruments across clinical departments
* Collaborate with nurses, clinicians, and the Equipment & Decontamination Manager
* Use IT systems to track instruments, defects, and turnaround with external providers
* Maintain stock control, rotate supplies, and reduce wastage
* Perform equipment checks and remove cement or residue prior to sterilization
* Support dental students in following correct decontamination protocols
* Uphold cross-infection and health & safety standards at all times
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
* Participate in audits, stock checks, and contribute to process improvements
* Input data into multiple Instrument Management Systems (IMS)
* Take part in appraisals and training as required
Essential Skills & Experience
* Manual dexterity and ability to handle equipment and materials
* Functional skills in English and Maths
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
* Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Desirable:
* Prior experience in a healthcare or decontamination environment
* Basic IT skills
