An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially driven Plant Buyer to join a fast-growing, privately owned retail business. With continued expansion and strong market presence, the business is seeking a dynamic individual to support the ongoing development of its plant category.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage the seasonal plant category, aligning with business objectives to drive sales, optimise stock levels and maintain margin performance.
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across the UK and Europe, including regular communication and site visits. Negotiate effectively to ensure the best balance of cost and quality.
* Plan and coordinate seasonal delivery schedules, ensuring compliance with import regulations and domestic requirements while minimising waste.
* Respond proactively to seasonal trends and demand fluctuations, identifying risks and implementing solutions to maintain product availability.
* Monitor market trends, customer preferences, competitor activity, and product innovation. Analyse sales data and recommend improvements to the product range.
* Develop and support promotional plans throughout the year in collaboration with marketing and social media teams.
* Provide support on wider category projects, contributing to the overall success of the garden and outdoor product range.
Person Specification:
* Proven experience in a retail buying role, ideally with exposure to seasonal or perishable goods.
* Strong negotiation skills with a commercial mindset and excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to identify emerging trends, interpret data, and forecast seasonal demand.
* Highly organised with strong communication skills and a proactive approach.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
* Strong IT and data analysis skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe for supplier visits, trade shows, and store support.
