The role and the client
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a valued client for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a GBP6 million construction project in Chesterton, Cambridge. This immediate–start opportunity will see you take responsibility for overseeing all health and safety aspects of a live construction site, ensuring compliance, promoting best practice, and maintaining the highest standards of safety throughout the project lifecycle. The project comprises a standard commercial interior fit–out alongside a range of structural works, including piling operations, steel–framed structures, and internal structural alterations.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all site health and safety activities.
* Ensure compliance with current health, safety, and environmental legislation and company procedures.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
* Review and monitor RAMS and site documentation.
* Provide guidance and support to site management, subcontractors, and operatives.
* Investigate incidents, near misses, and non–conformances, implementing corrective actions where required.
* Promote a positive health and safety culture across the project.
* Liaise with clients, site teams, and stakeholders to ensure safety standards are maintained at all times.
Qualifications & experience
* NEBOSH Certificate (essential).
* Proven experience working as a Health & Safety Manager within the construction sector.
* Experience overseeing both fit–out and structural construction works.
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work independently and provide practical safety solutions on a busy construction site.
* Available to start immediately.
