AJ Chambers have a great role for a Legal Secretary to join a top Property Litigation team within a top Law Firm in North London. Main duties will include but not limited to: Prepare, format, and amend legal documents and correspondence (e.g., claim forms, witness statements, court bundles). Manage fee earners’ diaries, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings and court dates. Open and close files, ensuring compliance with firm and regulatory procedures. Conduct Land Registry and Companies House searches and prepare simple reports. Draft routine correspondence and assist with court form submissions and applications. Manage billing processes including preparing invoices, timesheet entries, and liaising with accounts. Liaise with clients, counsel, court staff, and third parties professionally via phone, email, and in person. Ensure file management compliance including archiving, document storage, and file reviews. Handle administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, filing, and post distribution. Support with case preparation including bundling and pagination of legal documents for hearings and trials. Skills and Experience Required: Essential: Previous experience as a legal secretary in property litigation or general litigation. Strong working knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and document formats. Excellent typing and audio transcription skills (60 wpm). Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and legal case management systems. High level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills. Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure. Professional telephone manner and client service skills. Discreet, trustworthy, and able to handle confidential information appropriately. Desirable: Experience supporting multiple fee earners. Knowledge of electronic court filing systems (e.g., CE-File). Familiarity with billing software (e.g., Elite, SOS, or similar systems). Personal Qualities: Proactive and self-motivated. Calm and composed under pressure. Team player with a flexible, can-do attitude. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
